Ana and Joel "Masacote" Massicot,
of Masacote Dance Company - Boston, MA |
Ana and Joel "Masacote" Massicot, are the founders of Masacote Entertainment, a music, dance, and multimedia company based in Boston, MA. The husband and wife team is one of the most sought after couples in salsa/mambo.
In 2002, Ana and Joel merged their combined19 years of experience in salsa/mambo with Joel’s 23 years experience in music to bridge the growing disconnect between music and dance. They debuted their first choreography on January 3, 2003 in Culver City, CA. and have been choreographing, performing and teaching together ever since.
The duet is dedicated to conveying a message through their choreography, using dance and music composition as an artistic medium. The Massicots are known for their innovative choreography, energetic performances, connection on and off the dance floor, and unique sense of musicality. They are taking salsa to an artistic level, fusing the intoxicating rhythms of music with the sensual Latin movements of dance into a self-expression of cultural identity.
After 3 years of planning, Ana and Joel expanded into a 3 couple dance company in September 2004. Now comprised by dancers with such diverse training as ballet, ballroom, modern, jazz, and more, the company has set off on new endeavors. They have since broken new ground when they became the first company to choreograph and perform to music created by them and for them with Joel's first album, "Masacote."
