Circular style dancing as it is done in the heart of Cuba. This class features fluid movements and graceful arm techniques with interactive partnering. You will learn the calls and turn patterns in the wheel group interactive style of dancing. Classes will be tailored to Beginners to Intermediate.

One of the top instructors of Afro-Cuban Popular Dances in the Midwest, is the director of Energetic Soul Dance Studios located in the heart of Clawson, MI. His name is not capitalized due to the fact that duane believes the emphasis should not be on his name but rather on the experience and skills that he possesses and passes on to the public.

New Orleans, LA native with a BS degree in Exercise Science, duane discovered the world of salsa dancing at the age of 26. Prior to that he has worked as a Personal Trainer to the stars, and today is still an accredited Fitness Consultant. However, duane discovered his true calling lied in dance as soon as the rhythms of salsa entered into his life.

It is hard to believe duane was once a beginner dancer himself. He would be the first one to tell you just how awkward it was when he first started taking salsa lessons, but nevertheless he kept on going forward, dancing. All the years of practice, patience, and devotion turned this man into the confident dancer he is today. duane currently continues his studies with three Master Instructors. Their influences include the five Popular Dances of Cuba as well as Cuban Rumba, Yoruba, and Congo Dancing. This is why duane’s current dancing represents a deep knowledge of music and culture.

Specializing in Casino style dancing with an Energetic Soul*sa Twist, duane is a gifted artist who takes great pleasure in sharing his wisdom with others. His natural knack for teaching comes through in every single one of his lessons and/or workshops. Very hard-working individual, with an easy-going, approachable personality, duane is superb at what he does. Dance is his passion and whatever work he puts into it (be it teaching or performing), he does it from his heart and with unmatched love and passion for this particular art form.

With over 500 special appearances locally and abroad, his track record speaks for itself. His loyal students/followers come from all over the world. They are appreciative and grateful to this human being for inspiring and mentoring every day through a mere art of movement – which is DANCE.

Salsa Underground is a dance company based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Directed by Herman Recalde and Ivana Adler, the company offers salsa performances and instruction in the Tri-State area. Its commitment and efforts are to enrich the Tri-State area's salsa dance scene, and have lots of fun doing it.

Herman Recalde, founder of Salsa Underground, and director of Salsa Underground dance team has been dancing for approximately 8 years and has been teaching for 4 years. His love for salsa inspired him to start the Salsa Underground Dance Team, Salsa Underground Dance Events, and Salsa Underground free style, partners, and workout Classes; all to help the local area to take salsa to another level. A contractor by trade, he finds enough time to get involved in many salsa events and performances, locally, nationally, and internationally; bringing to the local scene what's being taught and performed around the world.

Born in the Dominican Republic, DJ Nilson Diaz Gomez arrived in Canada in 1998 and brought with him just a few salsa records, cds, and a deep love and passion for the flavour of the music and dance.

Being a professional dancer in Puerto Plata, he also had a strong feel for the unique and 'danceable’ rhythms the music had to offer. It was that same love and passion for salsa that spawned his professional DJ career in Toronto, 2001.

Today, DJ Nilson's rare and beautiful salsa music collection consists of over 4000 Vintage Lps and Cds! His favourite styles are New York and Puerto Rican, both new and old school, Boogaloo, Latin Soul and Latin Jazz. DJ Israelo has been in the music scene for over 30 years. During the 80's, he hosted the popular Salsa Seduction show on WCSB. During the late 80 and late 90's he worked as a promoter bringing bands such as Bobby Valentin, Gran Combo and Johnny Rivera to the Aragon and Statler ballrooms. He was bought in to the Tri-C Jazz festival to provide consulting to their festivals. There he worked with Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Conjunto Libre, Poncho Sanchez, and others. He started DJing at Club Azteca and has the distinction of being the first DJ to play exclusively Latin music at a night club. His style can be classified as salsa dura modern.

DJ Frankie Flores is our main resident DJ for Baila Duro. Being an avid music enthusiast and collector, his music selection has been a majority of rare and out of print music. He has played throughout the Midwest and has guest DJed on numerous occasions in Tokyo and Osaka. He will be extending his play to NYC and DC within the next few months and plans to bring all that energy back to Cleveland.
